When Chanel showed it’s resort collection this year in Versailles, I loved the idea but didn’t really connect with all the pieces by Karl Lagerfeld. The opulence and decadence was a clear reference to Marie-Antoinette, as well as the panier dresses and some jewellery, but maybe I’m too much of a costume-lover to be able to appreciate the liberties Lagerfeld took with some shapes in his creations.
The resort campaign however, filled me with inspiration. It emanates opulence, luxury, but also the fragility of a woman, even if she’s a queen. I was very impressed by the goofy Cara Delevingne who turned into a sensual princess on a divan for this shoot, and I’ve been wanting to turn one of the pictures into an illustration for some time now…
Do you have a favourite campaign right now, pictures who inspire you?
